The Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists are excited and proud to present the 2008 Ohio SPJ Awards Ceremony at the incomparable Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, Saturday, October 18, 2008, from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m. Included are special VIP tours of the Rock Hall and Museum. The atmosphere at the Rock Hall is always electric, but celebrating Ohio's top journalists will add a special excitement.
Are you experienced? You will be at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum - before the evening is in full swing, special exhibits hosted by docents will guide you from 5:30 to 6:30. The special exhibit "Cleveland Rocks - The Birthplace of Rock and Roll" features the photography of George Shuba, nationally known for his images of rock stars and events of the explosive 1960s. Your host? George Shuba! even floors of exhibits, five theaters, a truly unique gift shop that will be open for SPJ's attendees - and dinner! To entice you even more, the world-class Great Lakes Science Center next door is offering free tickets to our out-of-town guests! (Limited to first 50.)
Later in the evening you'll experience the Rock Hall in all its glory with exhibits devoted to Elvis, the Beatles and Les Paul, five theaters, a truly unique gift shop (don't forget holiday gift-giving is coming.) and dinner! To entice you even more, the world-class Great Lake Science Center next door is offering free tickets to our out-of-town guests. We'll have 50 tickets available, first come, first served, available at SPJ's Rock Hall welcome table.
We encourage you to bring your family and friends for an overnight stay. Your teenager might even enjoy attending the Awards Ceremony! The Holiday Inn Select-City Centre (walking distance to the Rock Hall) is our host hotel. Call 216-241-5100 for hotel reservations. Simply mention "SPJ" to get your special $109 rate. Reservations MUST be made by September 30, 2008.
